Indoor Rink Opens Sooner Than Ever

Posted On: Sep 11, 2020

Gallatin Ice programming begins two weeks early

Ressler Motors Ice Rink at the Ice Barn will open before Bottcher Memorial Ice Rink, which has never happened in its 3 ½ years of existence. The facility is also opening two weeks earlier than normal.

With the addition of Gallatin Ice’s third compressor, purchased with help from the Montana Department of Tourism and the Office of Governor Steve Bullock, Gallatin Ice is able to build ice under warmer weather conditions.

Gallatin Ice staff and volunteers have built ice over the past week and will work long hours into the weekend to ensure that Ressler Rink is ready for participants on Monday, September 14th.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, Gallatin Ice and its user groups were unsure they could host regular programs this fall. Following Gallatin City County Health Department and USA Hockey guidelines, Gallatin Ice has established a plan to provide a safe and fun environment in the rinks this season, and ahead of schedule at that.

Public programs will not be offered until cooler temperatures arrive. Stay tuned for the launch of our EZ Facility registration site which will allow users to pre-register for events such as Public Skating, Stick and Puck, and Puck Lunch. This software will allow participants to pay online and will ensure strict capacity limits. No walk-ins will be allowed for the 2020-21 season.
